One evening I was going around a nearby lake close to where I lived and capturing the nature’s beauty, but suddenly I saw a small training aero plane was falling down engulfed with fire, the handy cam which I had automatically was directed towards that and with in 12 to 15 seconds every thing was over, and that ended up with an accident. Totally I had captured about 45 seconds of movie. When I informed some of the news channels, they were prepared to pay me for the video clip. Finally I
gave it one leading TV news channel which give me $20,000 in exchange with exclusive rights given to them.
Since then I carry my video cam with me where ever I go and take as many pictures and videos as possible. This was a hobby in the beginning and later it turned out to be a business. Gradually demand for the photographs exposed and videos increased and I started giving it in exchange for money. Now I call myself a travel photographer.
I used all my leisure time and holidays in taking pictures concentrating more on rarely available ones. The demand for travel broachers printing and other advertisements increased dramatically. Having a new eye and taking snaps will pay substantially in the long run.
For those aspiring for this opportunity may take advantage of competitions. Normally in the month of September or October “Lonely Planed Images" a digital library of travel photography which is a subsidiary of Lonely Planed Guide (having more than 400photographers are on contract) announce their competitions for Travel Photographer of the Year. The submissions guidelines are available for download at their website. This will increase the chances of entering the lucrative travel market.
